A "Modular Home" is also a dwelling built in two or more sections.
However, instead of being built under the Federal HUD Code, which is not universally
accepted by every municipal code authority, a modular is built to a special
State building code. Each state has its own set of standards and requirements,
and issues its own seal to prove that the house has been inspected by an
authorized agent of the state. In New York State, as in most states, a house
carrying the state modular code seal qualifies for a building permit in
all local jurisdictions.
Since modular manufacturers employ the most up to date construction technology,
they are able to offer almost unlimited designs in floorplans, sizes and
exterior elevations. So if you have a specific design in mind, talk it
